[01:06]<Tux2> hey bc_programming, you still up/
[01:06]<@bc_programming> yeah... I found a shiteload of issues with the program, lol
[01:07]<Tux2> lol
[01:07]<Tux2> I'm programming a little fun plugin at the moment.
[01:08]<Tux2> A smite/kick plugin for a guy's server.
[01:10]<@bc_programming> databases piss me off
[01:11]<Tux2> Heh, they are a pain to work with sometimes...
[01:12]<Tux2> working with YAML in bukkit is a pain. To delete an entry you have to set it to null... can you believe that?!?! On top of that that isn't even documented...
[01:12]<Tux2> It's something I found out through trial and error.
[01:12]<@bc_programming> it's not really the db itself it's calculating the way to show it
[01:13]<@bc_programming> for example right now everything looks fine if I clock in and out of orders, but somehow the clocked in time goes down when I clock a user back into one
[01:13]<@bc_programming> even though all the DB stuff is perfectly valid and correct
[01:13]<@bc_programming> (checking through phpmyadmin)
[01:14]<Tux2> Hmm...
[01:19]<@bc_programming> hmm the debug log has a bit of a hint
[01:20]<@bc_programming> "adding accumulated value -00:00:22
[01:20]<@bc_programming> so it's adding negative 22 seconds for some reason, that explains why it goes back in time, but y
[01:21]<@bc_programming> it's from a calculation that subtracts a time from the CurrentTime... unless it's in the future it shouldn't end up negative, hmmm
[01:21]<@bc_programming> I could hack and just get the magnitude, lol
[01:27]<Tux2> lol
[01:27]<@bc_programming> no that just made things worse
[01:27]<@bc_programming> I'll have to actually figure out where things go sour
[01:29]<@bc_programming> hmm, well I can narrow it down to whatever I do special for accumulating times when the order is clocked in
[01:59]<@bc_programming> -_-
[02:00]<@bc_programming> it's because of the difference between the laptop time and my desktop's time
[02:18]<@bc_programming> haha! fixed it
[02:19]<@bc_programming> made a new function DBTime() that simply runs a "SELECT NOW()" query
[02:19]<@bc_programming> then I replaced my usage of DateTime. Now within the class with DBTime()
[02:20]<@bc_programming> which ended badly since I used it within DataReader loops which caused an exception within the DBTime() function
[02:20]<@bc_programming> so I made it also cache the offset between the system time and the server time every time it is successful, and if an exception occurs with the query it merely returns the current datetime + the offset
[03:16]<Tux2> Nice!
[03:17]<@bc_programming> yeah it works well, I updated the installer and uploaded that version
[03:18]<@bc_programming> now I'm messing with INI stuff to see if I can make it more configurable to read from different database types
